Nodar Kumaritashvili, 21, was training at the Whistler Sliding Centre in Whistler, B.C., when his sled veered off the Olympic track and crashed into a steel pole at 90 mph.
The Georgian luger flew over a wall in the final run of training for mens singles, paramedics attended to him and administered CPR and he was rushed to hospital by ambulance but died shortly there after.
*Personal Opinion*
Luge is a crazy sport and is ridiculously dangerous, Yes the poles should of had pads and yes the wall should have been higher. I just don't understand all the surprise and dismay, when people do dangerous things they might die, my previous article is about 10 people dying, but it's just war so that's normal.... hmm maybe we need to get a better perspective on this. one.... what's your opinion?
