Meanwhile cinema distributors are so addicted to the 3D money guzzle, that decent films shot in 2D are being hastily reworked into 3D just to cash in on the fad. If you look at the history of 3D films it's been a general sleaze fest from the 1950's "The Black Lagoon" and "Flesh of Frankenstein" to the eyeball extraction scene in "Friday the 13th Part III" now Tinto Brass has announced he is working on a 3d Erotic film. Yes you heard it 3d porn....
I don't know where the sudden reemergence of 3D pictures came from, I mean the original patent was filed in 18 FUCKING 90 like seriously... it's taken us over 100 years to get to a 3D picture with 30 percent colour loss and fuzzy images that can only be properly displayed on large cinema screens. If you don't believe me about the quality take the 3D glasses off in the middle of a 3D screening and check out how much sharper the picture is.
I've seen Avatar, and I've seen Alice In Wonderland , I loved Avatar, it was a great movie, but there was the odd shot where I would sigh look at my girlfriend and ask "Do you think they would have held that shot for 10 seconds if they hadn't filmed in 3D?" of course not, conventional cinematography is thrown out the window to make room for gimmicky 3D shots that do not move the plot forward and leave 2D viewers hanging looking at a boring object that would only be of any interest to a 3D viewer.
Now that I think about it for more than 3 seconds I come to the realization that this is just another gimmick to get my pirate ass off the computer and into the theatre, nice try Hollywood, I prefer my movies to move me through dramatic dialog and plot lines that weren't shat out the Hollywood movie machine.
