Smrt Guard Review

SMRT GUARD is a application that is meant for keeping your blackberry and it's information backed up and secure, but it's far from secure and far from backed up. In theory the application is awesome, you can remotely pull device info track phone, stop tracking, self destruct, remote listen, locate my phone, audio ping, lock device, and remote backup.

The program successfully does the following: pull device info such as battery and signal strength, the last times you backed up and the last time you connected. It also performs remote listening by letting you enter in a phone number you would like your berry to call and it will automatically call you from your berry so you can hear what's going on where ever it is. The audio ping feature is also handy and works well, no matter what profile you're on it sound a loud buzzing noise and flashes the led.

The program more often then not fails when attempting any other feature.... such as locking, the remote lock doesn't always work, and the remote listen is pointless if you can't lock your berry from a potential thief. The GPS tracking is always off course and always starts you in Baltimore and it's hit and miss if it ever finds where you actually are.

The remote backup and restore features that I paid $4.00 cdn per month DOES NOT WORK, the information will load up to the smrt guard server but i can never pull it back down to my berry ota, i have to manually enter every contact by reading it from the smrt guard website.

Customer service is a joke, I called many times trying to resolve my problems with the program and eventually gave up as they are usually busy since there is only one customer service rep, and the phone number is long distance, not to mention i continually was told someone would email me or call back and never received a call or email.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS, the free features are handy but do not i repeat DO NOT buy this app.
