Dark Night Pirate Sentenced 2 Years

In the summer of 2008 The Dark Night was the biggest movie in the box office and Robert Henderson of Grandview Missouri planned to cash in. His idea blew up in his face when he was apprehended as part of an MPAA investigation. Henderson was sentence 2 years in a federal prison 3 years probation and a fine of
$24, 738. This looks like a public display as we saw back in the 90's with napster and the music industry lashing out with lawsuits. It's a scare tactic if anything. Next time you watch a pirated movie think about the risk the pirate had to take to bring you your entertainment.

The Family Entertainment and Copyright Act enacted in 2005 made camcording in a theatre a federal felony and established new penalties for pirating works that have not been released commercially. First time violators can be sentenced up to five years and a fine of up to $250,000.
